Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers has promised to assist the family of Soleh Darmawan, an Indonesian migrant worker who died in Cambodia after allegedly falling victim to human trafficking, in investigating his death.

At a press conference on Friday, Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, Abdul Kadir Karding, said that the assistance has been requested by the victim's family, which is suspecting irregularities in Soleh's death.

"We will assist the family until they are sure there is no problem in Soleh's death. If there is a problem, we will also help them," the minister ensured.

Regarding the suspicion that Soleh was a victim of illegal human organ trafficking, Karding said that based on the preliminary probe, no stitches were found on Soleh's body.

"Based on current observations, there were no new wounds or stitches that indicate organ removal," he added.

However, he assured that his ministry will continue assisting the family if they request a further autopsy on Soleh's body.

According to the minister, Soleh was initially offered a job as a chef in Thailand by his neighbor.

"The work offer was in Thailand, but he went to Cambodia instead, using a single-entry work visa. A few days after arriving, Soleh told his family that he had started working," Karding explained.

Later on, his family received information from someone about Soleh suffering a health emergency.

A day later, he was reported dead.

The Ministry of P2MI, through the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh, then submitted a request to bring Soleh's body to Indonesia.

"After the request from the family's legal representative was received on March 12 (2025), the P2MI Ministry and the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh arranged to return Soleh's body. The body arrived at the funeral home on March 15 and was buried the following day," Karding said.
