Assistant Deputy for Immigration Governance at the ministry Achmad Brahmantyo Machmud said the government wants to ensure that Hajj pilgrims depart legally, safely, and with guaranteed documentation.
"Therefore, (we need to) strengthen supervision points, including at immigration inspection points," he added at an immigration coordination meeting here on Friday, according to a statement released by the ministry here on Tuesday.
He emphasized strategic coordination between ministries and agencies, not just as a formality, but as a concrete manifestation of a shared commitment to maintaining orderly, accountable, and adaptive immigration governance in response to global dynamics.
The coordination meeting was held to ensure that immigration policies are implemented optimally, especially during significant national moments like the Hajj season.

Three main topics were discussed at the meeting: the preparation for Hajj departures this year, monitoring of non-procedural Hajj practices, and immigration issues that are currently developing in society.
The meeting brought up the crucial issue of non-procedural Hajj, where pilgrims leave for Hajj without going through official or legal mechanisms.
Machmud said that the issue needs to be given serious attention by all stakeholders.
He noted that the phenomenon of non-procedural Hajj is not just an administrative violation, but can also pose diplomatic risks and tarnish the nation's reputation.
To address this, he said, a collaborative and comprehensive approach to immigration supervision is required.
He urged all meeting participants to enhance communication with each other and share real-time data among institutions.
