Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto is firmly committed to advancing Indonesia’s achievements in international sports, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo stated.

This commitment is reflected in the allocation and scale of funding provided to the federations of sports branches, which has reached Rp630 billion (over US$37.8 million) across two phases, he added.

“I believe this is something everyone should appreciate about President Prabowo, as seen in the scale of support provided for sports development,” Ariotedjo said after a cooperation agreement signing ceremony in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia (NPCI), and several national sports governing bodies.

Ariotedjo clarified that the assistance underwent prior assessment to align with the government's objectives and capabilities to enhance Indonesia's sports achievements in international competitions.

“This assistance supports the Asta Cita goals, which clearly prioritize improving results in the Olympics, the Asian Games, and the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games,” he noted.

He added that the performance targets for each sports federation are determined individually, based on their strategic plans and available opportunities.

He explained that outcomes will naturally vary, so targets and success indicators cannot be generalized across all disciplines.

In the second phase, funding was distributed to 11 national sports organizations and 10 disciplines under the NPCI. These include the Indonesian Roller Sports Association (PB Porserosi), the Indonesian Hockey Federation (PB FHI), the Indonesian Wushu Federation (PB WI), and the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi).
