Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, at his residence in the Kertanegara area, Jakarta, on Sunday evening.

According to a statement received on Sunday, Kishida and the other Japanese delegates arrived at Prabowo's residence at around 7:00 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB).

During the meeting, the former prime minister delivered a letter from Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba, to President Prabowo, as confirmed by Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto after the meeting.

In addition, the two sides discussed the development of cooperation projects under the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) framework.

According to Hartarto, Indonesia currently has more than 170 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Japan.

He further noted that on Monday, Indonesia and Japan are scheduled to sign an agreement for a geothermal project in Muara Laboh, West Sumatra, with a capacity of 80 MW and an investment of around US$500 million.

President Prabowo also expressed his appreciation for the close cooperation between Indonesia and Japan and expressed hope that this collaboration will continue to be strengthened amid the challenges of global uncertainties.

"The president appreciates Indonesia's cooperation with Japan and hopes that it can continue to be enhanced amid the uncertainties caused by the tariff war," he remarked.

Kishida likewise emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries during these uncertain global times.

"Kishida also underscored how the situation has become uncertain, and in a situation like this, cooperation between the two countries is very important," Minister Hartarto remarked.

President Prabowo was accompanied at Sunday's meeting by several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, including Hartarto, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, and State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi.
