During his official visit to the province, which began on Tuesday (May 6), Gibran handed out shoes and backpacks to 389 students at Kaniti Elementary School. Each backpack contained stationery, lunch boxes, and water bottles.
He also donated 15 laptops to support the school's operations and provided essential commodities to 23 teachers and three canteen staff members.
Gibran said the initiative reflects the government's commitment to advancing quality education across all regions.
Kaniti School Headmaster Yuliana Nenabu expressed her gratitude to the vice president for his care and assistance, noting that the donations would significantly benefit her students.
“There are still some children who attend this school without shoes, which is understandable given the economic challenges our community faces,” she said.
Nenabu also mentioned that her team had submitted a proposal to revitalize the school's infrastructure and hoped the government would follow up on the request.
