The meeting took place at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on the sidelines of the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference, which the DPR hosted in the city.
"I hope this meeting will be the right momentum for us to reaffirm the strengthening of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Palestine, including Indonesia's support for Palestinian independence," she said in a statement.
She emphasized that the Indonesian Constitution affirms that independence is the right of all nations. Thus, colonialism must be abolished across the world, including in Palestine.
She said that Indonesia is continuing to voice support for Palestine, including through the parliamentary diplomacy conducted by the DPR at international forums, such as the PUIC and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Maharani assured that the DPR will continue to monitor the issue of Palestinian independence at the global level and urge the international community to immediately end the war in Gaza and ensure that humanitarian aid can enter the enclave without hindrance.
In addition, she said that Indonesia will continue to encourage efforts to resolve the conflict in Gaza through the two-state solution.
"The DPR will continue to urge countries in the world to recognize Palestinian sovereignty and encourage peaceful conflict resolution through the two-state solution by establishing Al-Quds as Palestine's capital city," she said.
She also underscored the importance of enhancing bilateral relations between Indonesia and Palestine, especially in the fields of economy, education, and human resource development.
"I also support the Indonesian government, which has actively delivered aid to Palestine," she said.
In the same statement, deputy chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the DPR, Irine Yusiana Roba Putri, said that the Palestinian delegates conveyed their appreciation to Indonesia, which has supported Palestine's struggle since the era of the nation's first president, Soekarno.
