Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology is working with Saudi Arabia to encourage the advancement of higher education in Indonesia.

One of the programs they carried out was the construction of Buildings 1A and 1B at Jakarta State University (UNJ), which was made possible through the partnership between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia via the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).

"We are not only inaugurating the building but also celebrating the global partnership for the advancement of education in Indonesia," Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto noted in a statement here on Thursday.

Yuliarto emphasized that the synergy between universities, the government, and international partners in developing educational infrastructure at UNJ serves as a real example of supporting higher education progress in Indonesia.

He noted that this collaboration could encourage campuses to have a broader impact on society and the country.

"This is the essence of collaboration. Nothing is impossible to achieve if it is done together for a more advanced Indonesia," the minister stated.

Meanwhile, UNJ Rector Komarudin outlined the university's objectives for constructing the new buildings.

He stated that to create a broader impact, universities must be developed to create impactful innovations, including through infrastructure improvements.

"We are trying to prioritize the concept of sustainable and humanistic development, focusing on connectivity and access," Komarudin stated in connection with the construction of the buildings.

Representing the Government of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia, ASEAN, and Timor-Leste Faisal Abdullah H. Amodi expressed hope that the building would benefit the Indonesian people.

This is mainly because the Saudi Arabian government pays significant attention to Indonesia.

In line with this statement, SFD Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad expressed hope that these benefits would extend to future projects, enabling Indonesian students to compete globally.
