"These two projects mark historical milestones in our collective efforts to achieve national self-sufficiency in energy," he remarked through a video conference broadcast from the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday.
Prabowo affirmed that achieving energy self-sufficiency would help Indonesia save tens of billions of US dollars and prevent the outflow of hundreds of trillions of rupiah, thereby strengthening the national economic standing.
The president also stated that a country's ability to meet its energy needs independently is as crucial as attaining food self-sufficiency.
"If a country achieves self-sufficiency both in food and energy, it becomes a nation powerful enough to deter others. Such a nation tends to stand resilient in any circumstances," he highlighted.

In his speech, the head of state also extended his appreciation to all parties involved in the development of the new oil fields, crediting the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas), and Medco Energy.
Speaking at the inauguration site in Natuna, ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia noted that Forel and Terubuk oil fields can produce 20 thousand barrels of oil per day.
"Additionally, this block of oil fields also has the potential to generate 60 million standard cubic feet per day," he remarked in a video broadcast monitored from Jakarta.
He stated that these oil fields are also expected to contribute to achieving the nationwide target of lifting one million barrels of oil per day in the next four to five years.
