This was conveyed by chief of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Suharyanto, during a ceremony marking the conclusion of the Indonesian humanitarian delegation’s mission to Vanuatu and Myanmar, here on Tuesday.
“This is a form of appreciation for the Indonesian Search and Rescue Team (INASAR) and the Emergency Medical Team (EMT) from the Ministry of Health, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the military, police, the National Alms Agency (Baznas), and others,” Suharyanto said.
He added that the government is currently processing the grant of the Satyalancana award to the EMT and INASAR members as a mark of the country’s gratitude for their dedication in the missions abroad.
“Their hard work is acknowledged by the state, and the award process is underway,” he affirmed.
According to Suharyanto, disaster mitigation is one of Indonesia’s national priorities.

The mission to Vanuatu marked the second-largest deployment of humanitarian aid ever by Indonesia, both in terms of logistics and personnel.
The 15-member EMT dispatched to Vanuatu included specialist doctors, general practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, and logistics experts. They carried out a month-long mission from January to February 2025.
Suharyanto also highlighted that Indonesia’s quick response in Vanuatu helped strengthen its global reputation in terms of commitment to humanitarian assistance.
Meanwhile, the mission to Myanmar in April 2025 was also considered a major success. Although it did not fully align with the initial plan, Indonesia has deployed dozens of doctors and medical personnel, along with a large number of health logistics.
Over 21 days in Naypyitaw, Myanmar, the EMT treated more than 2,273 patients, averaging 315 visits per day. They provided services such as emergency care, outpatient services, pediatrics, laboratory testing, and pharmacy support.
