Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) outlined three main strategies to encourage inclusive and sustainable prosperity in ASEAN.

In a statement received on Wednesday, he highlighted the three strategies: the importance of integrating sustainability with prosperity, linking global innovation to local action, and strengthening regional cooperation.

The minister made these points during his speech at the Southeast Asia Summit on Prosperity and Sustainability Forum held at Stanford University, the United States, on Tuesday (May 20).

He elaborated that for the first strategy, Indonesia has adopted a development approach that integrates food security, renewable energy, and infrastructure development that is resilient to climate change.

Regarding the second strategy, AHY stressed the need to accelerate equitable technology access, emphasizing that progress will only be beneficial if it reaches the intended beneficiaries.

He noted that technologies such as artificial intelligence, fintech, and renewable energy should be developed collaboratively with the community and based on local needs.

"Technology and innovation should empower humans, not replace or marginalize them," he stated.

Meanwhile, on the third point, he underscored the importance of strengthening regional cooperation, noting that no single country can tackle systemic risks such as climate change, supply chain disruptions, and food crises alone.

Therefore, he emphasized that ASEAN must act as an effective problem-solving platform, not merely a consensus forum.

"We must strengthen institutional capacity, deepen collaboration between the public and private sectors, and accelerate cross-country initiatives," he stated.

He also highlighted the need for a strong commitment to multilateralism and regional peace to prevent great power rivalries from impeding regional progress.

"Indonesia is ready to act as a strategic liaison and driving force for the inclusive and sustainable development agenda in the region," AHY remarked.

Through these three strategies, he expressed confidence in ASEAN's ability to build a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future, ensuring prosperity for all levels of society and realizing sustainability as the main foundation for development.
