In addition to urging Meta to remove groups containing misleading or inappropriate content, Prabowo emphasized the importance of active coordination between digital platforms and law enforcement agencies to trace and take legal action against the perpetrators.
“We have successfully identified and blocked several similar groups. However, that is not enough. We have asked Meta to consistently update their data and intensify monitoring to prevent the emergence of similar groups on their platform,” he stated here on Thursday.
He also called on other digital platforms to proactively collaborate with the government to protect the digital space, ensuring that accounts and groups found to be spreading inappropriate content can be addressed effectively.
He added that digital platforms must fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies in their investigative processes against these groups sharing negative content.
“We are also urging Meta to cooperate actively with law enforcement by identifying and providing the data on group owners and administrators,” he stressed.
Prabowo also expressed concern over a recent incident involving a Facebook group distributing pedophilic content.
He stated that such action is a serious legal violation and stressed that those responsible for creating such groups and content must be held accountable to the fullest extent.
“We urge the public to help monitor and report any groups that may contain similar content,” he remarked.
