Chair of the 2025 IIGCE Organizing Committee, Ismoyo Argo, stated that the event will feature a variety of agendas, including a high-level dialogue, technical paper presentations, an international exhibition, business matchmaking, and community activities.
"We aim to attract over five thousand visitors, with more than 30 countries participating. This event is expected to strengthen Indonesia's energy and investment diplomacy," he remarked at a media gathering in Jakarta on Thursday.
Argo expressed hope that the 11th IIGCE would also help the Indonesian government identify and eliminate barriers to investment, thereby advancing exploration and optimization of the country's geothermal potential.
He emphasized that Indonesia has the potential to generate up to 24 gigawatts (GW) of electricity from geothermal sources, but current output is only 2.6 GW.
Argo then noted that Indonesia requires approximately US$5 million to tap into its geothermal potential.
"Hopefully, IIGCE will drive further progress in the development of geothermal energy," he remarked.
Meanwhile, Chair of the Indonesian Geothermal Association (INAGA) Julfi Hadi expressed optimism that the upcoming international event would help expand the use of geothermal as an energy source nationwide.
Recognizing geothermal's abundance and eco-friendly nature, he said, INAGA has been collaborating with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and industry actors to advocate for regulations that support the cost-efficient use of this renewable energy source.
"Through the IIGCE, we aim to solidify Indonesia's position as a regional hub for geothermal energy and broaden its collaboration with global partners," he remarked.
