The four Indonesian institutions involved are Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, Universitas NU Nusa Tenggara Barat, the Business Center Alumni of Universitas Indonesia, and the Sakuranesia Foundation.
“Our collaboration will help students and lecturers in Indonesia acquire the best practical knowledge and skills in cybersecurity,” Denis Baranov, CEO of Positive Technologies, noted in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
This partnership focuses on enhancing professional cybersecurity skills in Southeast Asia. Key initiatives include building practical cybersecurity training facilities, training educators, and developing courses on offensive security, defensive security, and secure software development practices.
As part of this initiative, Positive Technologies’ cyber simulation platform, EdTechLab, will be implemented at the participating universities to support hands-on cybersecurity training.
The collaboration is also grounded in recent findings on Indonesia’s cybersecurity landscape. According to a recent Positive Technologies study, 28 percent of dark web forum advertisements in Southeast Asia are linked to Indonesia.
An analysis of dark web postings further reveals that the science and education sectors are among the top five most vulnerable to hacker attacks in Southeast Asia.

Other findings indicate that 62 percent of all successful cyberattacks on organizations in Indonesia have resulted in data breaches.
Although Indonesia has made significant efforts to strengthen its digital infrastructure and expand digital literacy, the rapid pace of digital technology adoption requires additional efforts to optimize cybersecurity in the country.
Hence, Positive Technologies, an international cybersecurity company committed to contributing to the global cybersecurity community, is taking the initiative to support cybersecurity development in Indonesia.
This initiative has also been welcomed by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, recognizing that ongoing digital transformation in the country depends on cultivating the right digital talent as a crucial component for the program’s success.
