Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, said here on Friday that more than 8.2 million people have participated in the Free Health Check-up (CKG) program since its launch in February 2025, with women making up 62.2 percent of the participants and men 37.7 percent.
“(Based on the health checks) Dental health issues are extremely high, but more importantly, three major issues, hypertension, diabetes, and obesity, are the main risk factors for heart disease and stroke, which are the first and second leading causes of death in Indonesia,” he informed.
Data recorded by the ministry as of June 12, 2025, shows that one in five CKG participants have hypertension, 5.9 percent suffer from diabetes mellitus, and one in two participants have dental and oral health problems, he said.
Central obesity refers to waist circumference of more than 90 centimeters in men and 80 cm in women.
It is closely related to non-communicable diseases, which not only affect the elderly, but are increasingly affecting people from younger age groups, Sadikin warned.
“In fact, one in three people over the age of 40 have hypertension, and one in ten are living with diabetes,” the minister added.
He then urged the public not to wait until they fall ill, and opt for early screening instead.
The CKG program, part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Quick Win programs, aims to improve public health through early detection and preventive health education.
“If we find out early, we can make changes, whether through lifestyle adjustments or medical treatment. Take care of your health, so you can work, stay productive, and help our country become a developed nation by 2045,” he said.
The CKG program has been implemented at nearly 10 thousand local health centers (puskesmas) across 38 provinces.
