Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Health has expressed optimism about the Free Health Checks (CKG) program covering 100 million people this year, given the current pace of the program and its scheduled rollout in schools in August.

At a press conference on Thursday, director general of primary and community health, Maria Endang Sumiwi, said that in the last month, 200 thousand people have participated in the program per day.

“We hope to reach 5–6 million (participants per month), so that in the remaining months (of 2025), there are still 6 or 7 months left, we can get an additional 30–40 million. That’s half of our target,” she added.

Further, around 50 million schoolchildren will be reached once the CKG program is rolled out in schools, which could likely take the total number of participants to 100 million, she explained.

Sumiwi said that the program aims to change people’s mindset regarding health screenings by encouraging them to check their health regularly and improve their lifestyle to prevent diseases that can be avoided.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that since the program’s launch in February 2025, at least 8.7 million people have registered for check-ups, and 8.2 million have used the services.

The minister informed that three provinces have recorded the highest coverage -- Central Java, East Java, and West Java. In terms of gender, more women have used the free health screening services compared to men.

Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), Prita Laura, said that the health screening program in Indonesia is one of the biggest in the world because it aims to cover 280 million citizens in five years.

She further said that the budget of Rp4.7 trillion (approximately US$289.8 million) for the program reflects its position as a national priority policy in Indonesia.
