Jakarta (ANTARA) - The provincial government of DKI Jakarta will offer a vehicle tax amnesty scheme from June 14, 2025, to August 31, as part of Jakarta’s 498th anniversary celebrations.

“The tax amnesty, which includes the cancelation of fines and interest, will be in effect from Saturday, June 14, until the end of August 2025,” Head of the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) of DKI Jakarta Lusiana Herawati informed in a statement issued in Jakarta on Friday.

“This policy is part of Jakarta’s anniversary celebrations and the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence,” she added.

The policy will allow taxpayers to pay only the principal tax, without any fines or late payment interest. The program is intended as an incentive to raise public awareness about timely tax payment.

Herawati said that the requirements will be the same as for general vehicle tax payments.

“If you have arrears, you would normally need to pay the principal tax along with penalties. However, with this incentive, you only need to pay the principal,” she explained.

Earlier, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo also announced plans to offer a tax amnesty for residents who make payments on Jakarta’s anniversary day.

“So, the tax amnesty is not given to those who have not paid taxes. It will be granted to those who pay on that day (June 22),” Pramono explained.

The policy, he said, aims to provide relief and motivate the public to comply with tax payments.

He stressed that the provincial government will offer various conveniences to mark Jakarta’s anniversary.

In addition to the tax amnesty, it has also prepared several special schemes for the anniversary, including free public transportation services on June 22.
