"These (attacks) reflect the failure of rules-based international order, as it is not well and consistently maintained," Yahya Cholil Staquf, top leader of Indonesia's largest Islamic organization, stated.
Speaking in Jakarta on Friday, he remarked that Israel's surprise assault on Iran—carried out without any prior multilateral dialogue—was a clear violation of international norms and could potentially drag the world into a larger crisis.
"This situation poses a threat to the world that leads to a collective collapse," he remarked, adding that the Israeli attacks on Iran had escalated global conflict and instability.
To help de-escalate the Israel-Iran conflict, he urged the United Nations and all peace-loving nations to take immediate measures before the current situation worsens.
To this end, Staquf emphasized the need for global unity to ensure and maintain the safety of mankind.
The Indonesian government has also condemned the Israeli strikes, with Foreign Minister Sugiono stating that the attacks violated international law and undermined its very foundation.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that Iran had begun its retaliatory strikes on Israeli targets on Friday evening local time.
IRNA quoted a senior Iranian military official, General Ahmad Vahidi, as saying that the retaliatory strikes, known as "Operation True Promise 3", would "continue for as long as necessary."
