Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tehran has appealed to all Indonesian nationals (WNI) in Iran to increase vigilance following Israel’s attack on the country early on Friday local time.

"Considering the dynamics in the region, the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran appeals to all Indonesian people in the Islamic Republic of Iran to increase their vigilance and maintain their own safety and that of their families in carrying out their daily activities," the embassy said on Friday.

In addition, Indonesian citizens in the country have been asked to maintain communication with the embassy and inform it about their condition and whereabouts.

They have been advised to avoid crowds, vulnerable areas, and limit movement to a minimum, as well as store valuables and documents in a safe place.

Indonesian nationals residing in Iran have also been asked to complete the self-reporting formalities at the embassy and keep abreast of the local security situation by monitoring the mass media and official sources of information.

In addition, they have been asked to comply with security appeals from the relevant authorities.

"In case of emergency, please contact the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran hotline at +98 902 446 8889 (telephone and WA)/+98 991 466 8845 (WA only)," the statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran said.

Following the Israeli airstrikes on several locations in Iran on Friday, the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran got in touch with Indonesian nationals living in the country to evaluate their condition.

The embassy said that Iran will take retaliatory action against Israel’s attack and called on all UN member states, especially regional countries, Islamic countries, members of the Non-Aligned Movement, and others, to condemn the Israeli strikes.

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, condemned the attack on Iran and appealed to both countries to exercise restraint.

The minister expressed the hope that the situation would not worsen, adding that his ministry will continue to monitor developments.
