According to Dutch Vice Minister for Foreign Economic Relations Michiel Sweers, the MoU signing reflects the Netherlands’ enthusiasm to collaborate with Indonesia to achieve common goals.
“It’s not only signing contracts. It’s building trust. It’s building partnerships because we want to be a long-time reliable partner for Indonesia," Sweers said after the Dutch Economic Mission to Indonesia forum here on Monday.
Sweers and Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono witnessed the signing of several MoUs at the forum.
They included an MoU between the Indonesian Transportation Ministry and Dutch Infrastructure and Water Management Ministry on mutual recognition of seafarers’ certification.

They further included a letter of commitment between the Indonesian Health Ministry and Invest International of the Netherlands on the procurement of advanced medical equipment
Invest International and the Indonesian Public Works Ministry also signed two letters of intent (LoIs) on the development of a coastal protection project in Cirebon and Demak regions and on the preparation and implementation of water treatment and solid waste management projects.
In the higher education sector, MoUs on partnerships in water innovation and youth talent empowerment were signed between Sultan Agung Islamic University and Wetskills Foundation and between Indonesian Institute for Life Sciences (I3L) and ISRIC-World Soil Information.
IPB University signed an MoU with Stichting Wavemakers United Foundation and another with Magari Holding BV on support for the agricultural sector through investment in greenhouses.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Transportation Ministry, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Cikarang Dry Port, and BINUS University signed an MoU with HAN Hogeschool on a bilateral framework agreement on “Living Lab Greening Corridors.”
Private parties representing geothermal, maritime, and other industrial sectors from Indonesia and the Netherlands also signed MoUs, agreements, and reports during the forum on Monday.
