She noted that trade between the two countries reached US$5.7 billion. The Netherlands has also consistently been the largest investor from the European Union and is ranked among the top 10 investors in Indonesia.
"In the future, trade prospects between the two countries are expected to deepen through the I-EU CEPA,” she remarked at a trade reception for the Dutch Economic Mission to Indonesia in Jakarta on Monday.
According to Esti, this record shows the important long-term role of the Netherlands as Indonesia's economic partner. She believes this partnership will continue to expand in the coming years.
She also observed that broader Indonesia-EU trade relations are showing positive results. In 2024, trade between the two parties was recorded at US$30.2 billion.
Esti remarked that the Netherlands is globally renowned for its expertise in sustainable innovation, cutting-edge logistics, and progressive economic policies. This demonstrates how a forward-thinking mindset can shape a country's success.
She affirmed that this expertise aligns with Indonesia's ambition as the largest economy in Southeast Asia, powered by a young generation eager to embrace digital transformation and green growth.
Deputy Minister for Foreign Economic Relations of the Netherlands Michiel Sweers stated that the Netherlands is enthusiastic about new trade and investment opportunities with Indonesia.
Sweers is upbeat that the Dutch Economic Mission to Indonesia this time would result in productive cooperation for both countries.
