Denpasar (ANTARA) - Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has launched new international routes to China and South Korea, aiming to boost tourism and improve connectivity, airport officials said.

General Manager Ahmad Syaugi Shahab announced that Sichuan Airlines will fly between Denpasar and Chengdu, and T’Way Air will connect Denpasar with Cheongju, South Korea.

“The direct link from Chengdu and Cheongju opens new opportunities for tourists from China and South Korea to easily visit Bali,” Shahab said in a statement Sunday.

T’Way Air inaugurated its Cheongju‑to‑Denpasar service on Sept. 25. It will operate twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays. Sichuan Airlines made its first landing in Bali on Sept. 26 and will run daily service.

Shahab emphasized that China remains one of Bali’s key inbound tourism markets.

“Through August 2025, we recorded 393,825 Chinese nationals arriving in Bali, making them the third-largest source of foreign arrivals to the island,” he said.

With the launch of these routes, the airport now offers 42 international destinations served by 47 airlines.

Shahab added that the expansion underscores the airport’s commitment to seamless operations, service quality, and coordination among stakeholders to handle increasing international traffic.
