Jakarta (ANTARA) - The adoption of a flexible work from anywhere (WFA) model for state apparatus (ASN) could help boost productivity, especially among women ASNs, according to the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture.

Deputy for Quality Improvement of Families and Population at the ministry Woro Srihastuti Sulistyaningrum said here on Thursday that the WFA policy aims to provide opportunities for women ASNs to remain professionally active without needing to abandon other duties.

“This is one of the policies that will be issued by the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB). This policy provides an opportunity for women to work without needing to leave behind their other responsibilities,” she added.

Sulistyaningrum noted that women, especially mothers, are often faced with responsibilities—not only in their professional roles but also within their households.

“Flexible working arrangements like this offer a valuable opportunity for women to stay active in the workforce without sacrificing productivity or neglecting their families,” she said.

She further said that the WFA policy proved effective during the COVID-19 pandemic, when employees managed to maintain productivity while working from home.

“From our experience during the COVID-19 period, it has been clearly proven that we are capable of working from anywhere. From home, we are still able to work and maintain our productivity,” she added.

On Tuesday, the PAN-RB Ministry issued Ministerial Regulation No. 4 of 2025 concerning the flexible implementation of duties for ASNs within the ministry.

The regulation is expected to serve as a legal framework for government agencies in adopting flexible work models in terms of both time and location.
