Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya Sugiarto, has said that discussions during the second wave of meetings of the Regional Leaders’ Retreat will cover the national anti-corruption strategy.

The material for the latest round of meetings will be the same as that of the first retreat, he said.

“The material is the same, the substance is the same. There will be a general understanding of the duties of regional leaders, followed by priority programs, and then the anti-corruption strategy,” Sugiarto said in a statement released in Jakarta on Friday.

During the retreat, regional leaders will also be encouraged to get to know and communicate with each other.

This is intended to ensure that regional leaders are familiar with one another and ready to collaborate on development programs once they begin their duties.

The deputy minister said that regional leaders who participated in the first wave of meetings found the event helpful in building synergy on various development programs.

The second wave of the Regional Leaders’ Retreat will take place from June 23 to June 26, 2025.

Sugiarto said that 87 regional leaders and deputy regional leaders from various regions will participate in the retreat.

Initially, their number stood at 93, but six sought permission to withdraw, citing health reasons.

All participants will stay at the IPDN dormitory during the retreat. Regents and mayors will share rooms, while governors will have separate rooms.

To maintain order, all participants will be prohibited from bringing companions. “Regional leaders are not allowed to be accompanied by protocols, aides, or documentation personnel. We will organize everything (in an) orderly (manner),” he said.

He informed that the retreat participants will be divided into three groups.

The first group will comprise regional leaders who have been inaugurated, but did not attend the first wave of meetings.

The second group will comprise regional leaders who faced disputes over election results that were later resolved. The third group will have leaders elected through a re-vote (PSU) and whose inauguration has just been completed.

The second round of the Regional Leaders’ Retreat will be held at the Indonesian Public Administration Institute (IPDN) campus in Jatinangor, Sumedang district, West Java.
