Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Supreme Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) and the United Arab Emirates Accountability Authority (UAEAA) have agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in public sector auditing.

Their commitment was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the UAEAA headquarters in Abu Dhabi by BPK Chair Isma Yatun and UAEAA Chairman Humaid Obaid Abushibs.

“This MoU marks a strategic step, underscoring both institutions' commitment to enhancing collaboration in public sector auditing,” Yatun stated in an official release on Friday.

The MoU establishes a broad cooperation framework focused on knowledge and experience exchange, capacity building, and professional development in public auditing.

BPK and UAEAA have long fostered strong institutional ties through their active participation in global audit platforms such as the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI).

They also contribute to various specialized working groups, including the Working Groups on Environmental Auditing (WGEA), Anti-Corruption and Money Laundering (WG FACML), and the Impact of Science and Technology on Auditing (WG ISTA), as well as the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI).

Yatun noted that the UAEAA delegation’s visit to BPK headquarters in Jakarta in January 2025, attended by the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia, was a key moment in advancing this partnership.

Under the MoU, cooperation will extend to anti-corruption efforts, IT auditing, legal framework enhancement, and food security oversight.

The partnership also covers joint training, personnel exchanges, and the co-development of auditing methodologies aligned with international best practices.

“This MoU lays the groundwork for a transformative partnership that enhances our shared mission to promote accountability, transparency, and effective public financial governance across national, regional, and global levels,” Yatun concluded.
