Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Sanar Ghanim, a key witness in the recent fatal shooting involving three Australian men in Bali, has been placed under police protection as authorities continue to investigate the case.

Ghanim, an Australian national who survived the violent incident that occurred at a villa in Munggu Village, Badung District, in the early hours of Saturday, June 14, has been relocated to a secure location.

The safe house is under the supervision of the police and the Australian Consulate, Badung Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner M. Arif Batubara told reporters here on Saturday.

Police have also extended security measures to Ghanim’s family and other residents of Villa Casa Santisya 1, where the shooting took place.

"We are maintaining their safety through routine patrols in the area," Batubara said.

According to him, Ghanim was scheduled to be questioned on Saturday, June 21, but he and his lawyer declined to appear at the police station, requesting the investigation take place elsewhere.

"We respect the request and are currently consulting with the Australian Consulate in Bali regarding the appropriate arrangements," he added.

The shooting left Zivan Radmanovic, also an Australian citizen, dead and Ghanim with minor injuries.

Police reports indicate that Radmanovic was shot in the villa’s bathroom, witnessed by his wife, identified only as GJ. Ghanim’s wife, Daniela, also reportedly witnessed the shooting aimed at her husband.

Three Australian men — Tupou Pasa Midolmore (27), Coskunmevlut (23), and Darcy Francesco Jenson (37) — have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the incident, according to Badung police.
