Rote Ndao, East Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Population and Family Development (BKKBN) picked Rote Ndao, the southernmost district in Indonesia, located in East Nusa Tenggara, to launch a family planning service campaign targeting frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) regions.

The Head of the Ministry's Public Relations and Information, Sunarto, in a statement received here on Sunday, said the family planning service campaign will be launched by Minister of Population and Family Development Wihaji on Monday, June 23.

“The goal of this campaign is to expand access to quality family planning services for couples of reproductive age,” he said.

In addition, the movement aims to strengthen the commitment of both central and regional governments, along with development partners, to the national family planning program.

It also seeks to boost participation in long-term contraceptive methods (MKJP) and non-MKJP, as well as to sustain consistent contraceptive use.

Sunarto explained that the program will be broadcast virtually across all provinces and will also involve related partners. Minister Wihaji will also conduct teleconferences with selected provinces.

“Service implementation began on June 16 and will continue through June 30, 2025,” he added.

In conjunction with the family planning service campaign for 3T regions, the ministry will also launch the Higher Education Consortium Action Program.

This program includes action plans, such as the development of clean water technology, the production and processing of nutritious local food, and innovations in community health education.

The initial phase of the consortium’s action plans will focus on three districts: South Timor Tengah, Southwest Sumba, and East Manggarai.

Through this move, the government wants to reaffirm its commitment to providing equitable family planning services nationwide in support of a just Indonesia, with a target of reaching one thousand acceptors.
