Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno reaffirmed the city’s commitment to collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including the international community.

He made the statement while welcoming ambassadors from 12 countries at Jakarta City Hall on Sunday, during a reception marking the city’s 498th anniversary.

“The meeting with ambassadors serves as an important platform for dialogue and the exchange of ideas to explore potential cooperation in building Jakarta into an open and adaptive global city,” Rano said.

Representing Governor Pramono Anung, Rano expressed appreciation for the envoys’ presence and emphasized Jakarta’s vision for the future.

“This occasion is a reflection of Jakarta’s journey, its current challenges, and future direction as the city transitions into a National Economic Center and Global City,” he said.

He also stressed that as Jakarta approaches its 500th year, it continues to evolve into an inclusive city that upholds justice, equality, and cultural diversity.

Themed “Global and Cultural City,” this year’s anniversary is seen as a moment of transformation toward becoming a world-class city while preserving Jakarta’s cultural identity and values.

“Jakarta’s future development will prioritize connectivity and synergy across the economic, social, and cultural sectors,” Rano noted.

He added that the city’s achievements so far would not have been possible without the support of all stakeholders, including programs that strengthen cultural development, tourism, and the creative economy.

Rano invited all parties to prepare for Jakarta’s 500th anniversary with a renewed spirit of unity and innovation.

“Let us welcome Jakarta’s 500th year with the spirit of collaboration and transformation—to create an inclusive and sustainable city that safeguards residents’ well-being while honoring the history and cultural values that shape its identity,” he said.

The reception was attended by ambassadors from Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Singapore, France, Canada, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Chile, Romania, and Guatemala.
