Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu’ti stated that the revitalization program is part of the government's Quick Response Programs in the education sector.
“The revitalization of schools across Indonesia will begin this July, targeting 10,440 schools, and the number may even increase,” Minister Mu’ti remarked after delivering a presentation at the 2nd Batch Regional Head Retreat at the Institute of Public Administration here on Wednesday.
He noted that the school revitalization will be based on a self-managed, independent approach to promote efficiency.
In addition, he stated that this approach can empower school communities and local residents in development efforts, fostering a sense of belonging and shared responsibility.
“The budget for this program is Rp16.9 trillion (around US$1.03 billion), and God willing, we can allocate these funds,” Mu’ti stated.
Beyond physical improvements, the government will also start providing digital facilities and infrastructure to support educational transformation and enhance teachers’ capacities.
He remarked that the revitalization will be conducted gradually, including the development of digital facilities to support learning in schools.
“We want to provide 300 thousand smart TVs within the next three to four years to support digital learning in schools,” the minister noted.
The 2025 school revitalization program targets 10,440 schools nationwide, including early childhood education centers (PAUD), elementary and junior high schools, senior high schools and vocational high schools (SMA/SMK), community learning centers (SKB/PKBM), and special needs schools (SLB).
The ministry has ensured that the self-management mechanism in the program will strengthen governance and boost community participation.
