Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto welcomed Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Friday afternoon at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta with a formal state reception ceremony.

The two leaders arrived together in the same vehicle and walked side by side to a special podium, where they stood for the playing of the national anthems of both countries, accompanied by a 21-gun salute.

They then proceeded along a blue carpet laid across the palace courtyard to inspect the ceremonial honor guard.

Afterward, President Prabowo and Prime Minister Anwar introduced members of their respective delegations before moving to the Credential Room for a guest book signing and an official photo session. The warm atmosphere was underscored as Prabowo extended his hand in greeting, which Anwar received with equal warmth.

Following these formalities, the two leaders held a closed-door one-on-one meeting in the president’s office. According to the agenda, this was to be followed by bilateral talks involving both delegations and a joint press conference.

Indonesia’s delegation included Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto, Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Wijaya.

The Malaysian delegation comprised Foreign Minister Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Higher Education Minister Zambry bin Abdul Kadir, Communications Minister Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil, and Plantation and Commodities Minister Johari bin Abdul Ghani.

Prime Minister Anwar arrived in Jakarta via Halim Perdanakusuma Airport at around 1 p.m. local time, where he was greeted directly by President Prabowo.

Also present at the airport were Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani, and Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.

Anwar’s visit to Indonesia is a reciprocal gesture following President Prabowo’s official trip to Kuala Lumpur on May 26–27 this year.
