He also provided the housing assistance to five army personnel who suffered permanent injury in the line of duty from 2019 to 2024.
The housing units were symbolically handed over to recipients at an event held at the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) Headquarters in Central Jakarta on June 26, 2025, according to a press statement issued by the TNI here on Friday.
The army chief also announced scholarships for the children of the widows, which will cover their education until they reach 25 years of age.
“May you, as mothers, remain strong and be able to educate your children well. Please always remember that the sacrifice of your fallen husbands is not worthless,” Simanjuntak was quoted as saying in the statement.
He described the housing assistance as a form of respect and award from the TNI AD to personnel who died while defending the country’s sovereignty. The army will always stand by its fallen and disabled soldiers, he said.
Meanwhile, the interest generated on the savings of disabled servicemen participating in the mandatory housing saving program would be used to finance their children’s education, he informed.
