Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Christina Aryani, has urged civil servant candidates (CPNS) from her ministry to uphold integrity and use social media wisely.

“First, we must maintain integrity, because they will face many challenges. Of course, they must be ready to carry out their duties as well as possible,” she said at the closing of the orientation and submission of the decision letter on the placement of national civil servant candidates.

The event took place at the ministry’s office here on Monday.

She expressed the hope that the new civil servants, including those placed with the head office and the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection and Service Agency (BP3MI) in the regions, will uphold integrity, remain resilient, and not get involved in corruption.

In addition, she reminded them of the importance of using social media wisely and maintaining a professional attitude on social media platforms.

Sharing feelings or comments on social media without inhibition could cause problems for the younger civil servants, Aryani said.

“So, we have to be really wise in using social media,” the doctoral candidate in law added.

She also quoted a message from the President’s special envoy for the development of the young generation and arts workers, Raffi Ahmad, who asked civil servants at the Ministry of P2MI to keep their parents, especially mothers, happy.

“A message that I think is very important, because as long as our parents are still alive, it is a moment for us to make them happy. I think that is important to remember,” she added.

Meanwhile, Ahmad reminded the civil servant candidates at the ministry to prioritize norms in carrying out their duties and responsibilities.

“No matter how smart we are, no matter how high our education, our wisdom is more important than all that. We also have to be polite to our elders,” he said.

Civil servants are the main pillars of public service provision and the implementation of state policies, he added.

“Since you are the image of the nation, so protect it,” he stressed.

“CPNS must adapt quickly, learn quickly, work together, be innovative, and most importantly, be honest,” he said.
