Some of these cases involved perpetrators who were parents or family members of the victims.
In a statement received on Wednesday, Minister Arifatul Choiri Fauzi said the figure was based on data from the Online Women and Children Information System (Simfoni PPA), covering the period from January to June 28, 2025.
She highlighted that most cases involved sexual violence.
Citing the 2024 National Survey on the Life Experiences of Children and Adolescents, the minister noted that 1 in 2 Indonesian children aged 13–17—equivalent to 11.5 million children—have experienced at least one form of violence in their lives.
The number includes 5.8 million boys (49.83%) and 5.7 million girls (51.78%).
Additionally, the 2024 National Survey on Women’s Life Experiences revealed that 1 in 4 women aged 15–64 in Indonesia have experienced physical or sexual violence, either by intimate partners or other individuals, during their lifetime.
