Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned pharmaceutical firm PT Kimia Farma has introduced Fentakaf, a domestically developed pain relief injection.

The product was launched during the 2025 National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Indonesian Association of Anesthesiologists and Intensive Therapy Specialists (PERDATIN) in Jakarta on Friday.

According to the company's statement, the new product is claimed to be a safe and effective anesthetic drug, making it suitable for use by anesthesiologists during surgical procedures.

"This is a strategic move for Kimia Farma to strengthen its position in the anesthesia and intensive therapy product segment," Kimia Farma's Director of Portfolio, Products, and Services, Jasmine K. Karsono, stated.

Fentakaf contains locally sourced components and is intended to reduce reliance on imported anesthetic drugs.

At the meeting, Kimia Farma informed anesthesiologists that Fentakaf meets quality and safety standards and is ready for use.

Karsono stated that the innovation behind Fentakaf demonstrates the company's commitment to contributing to realizing national health resilience through the development of domestically produced drugs.

"We believe that the introduction of Fentakaf is one of the concrete efforts to reduce dependence on imported products and provide an alternative that is equivalent in terms of quality, safety, and efficacy," she noted.

Kimia Farma is the only pharmaceutical manufacturer in Indonesia authorized by the government to distribute narcotic drugs.

"Fentakaf products are available and can be used as a substitute for imported fentanyl injection products starting July 2025," she added.

She highlighted that collaboration between the pharmaceutical industry and medical personnel is an important element in supporting the provision of quality and sustainable therapy for the community.

Kimia Farma continues to strengthen its role as a pioneer in providing strategic domestic medicines and as a key player in transforming the national health system towards greater national health independence and resilience.
