Surabaya (ANTARA) - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa has launched Telemedicine Seputar Kepulauan Madura (Telesapa Madura) to enhance mobile health services across the archipelago.

"Telesapa Madura is an innovative solution to build a referral system and provide stable and fast internet network infrastructure at health centers," Governor Khofifah stated in Surabaya on Saturday.

This innovation will be tested in two sub-districts on Sapudi Island, namely Nonggunong and Gayam, which are also the focus areas of the Mobile Health Service Team (Yankes) on July 5-8, 2025.

Telesapa Madura offers remote consultation services between primary and secondary health facilities while also supporting the strengthening of the Integrated Referral Information System (Sisrute).

Since its launch in 2019 by Khofifah, the mobile health service program has now reached over 13 thousand people in the islands such as Sapeken, Pagerungan, Masalembu, Sapudi, Kangean, Gili Genting, Gili Ketapang, and Raas.

"People's life expectancy has increased, for instance, among people who have recovered from cataracts or other eye diseases," she remarked.

The Yankes Bergerak Team sent to Sapudi Island consists of 52 people, including health workers from hospitals managed by the East Java Provincial Government, the district government, and other supporting agencies.

They will provide health services at the Gayam and Nonggunong Health Center for 291 patients, including 72 eye cases, 20 ENT cases, 41 surgical cases, 72 traditional health cases, 26 TB cases, 23 mental health cases, 18 KEK pregnant women, and 19 stunting cases.

Khofifah emphasized that health services should run optimally, and if needed, additional teams should be deployed to ensure all service tasks are completed.

She also highlighted the importance of reaching out to unregistered communities, who struggle to access health services and social assistance due to lacking documents such as KIS, KIP, or KKS.

"Our homework is to reach those who are unregistered, especially in the islands and underdeveloped areas," she stated.
