Penajam Paser Utara (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) is inviting the public to take part in a walking tour while offering a closer look at the infrastructure and environmental values being developed in the new capital, located in East Kalimantan.

“We are introducing the concept of an environmentally friendly city to the public through a relaxed walking experience,” Deputy for Environment and Natural Resources at the IKN Authority Myrna Asnawati Safitri said in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, on Sunday.

The walking activity, named Eco Traveler, blends a fun walk with an educational tour. This program combines guided walks with explanations about IKN’s development and the importance of sustainability in urban living, as participants follow designated routes through the new capital, she said.

Along the route, participants are introduced to several strategic buildings, including the Presidential Palace, the Coordinating Ministry buildings, the MBH Retention Basin, City Hall, the Bank Indonesia building, and the symbolic kilometer-zero point of IKN.

Safitri emphasized that Nusantara is being built as a “10-minute city,” where residents will be able to reach any destination within the capital on foot in 10 minutes.

The Eco Traveler runs from June 28 to July 27, 2025, and is held every Saturday and Sunday. Misbahul Fikri, a guide from the IKN Authority’s Deputy for Environmental and Natural Resources, said the walks are divided into two sessions: Morning Vibes and Sunset Vibes.

The Morning Vibes route on Saturdays starts from state civil servants (ASN) Dormitory 1, continues to MBH Retention Basin and Coordinating Ministry Building 3, and ends in the front of the Garuda Palace.

Sunset Vibes begins at City Hall, passes to Kilometer Zero, Bank Indonesia, Coordinating Ministry Building 3, and concludes at the same ministry building.

On Sundays, the morning route shifts to begin at the Integrated Waste Management Facility, then continues through City Hall, Kilometer Zero, Bank Indonesia, and ends at the Presidential Palace.

Each walking route covers approximately five kilometers, and is maximally joined by 30 people per session to ensure a focused and comfortable experience.
