For this reason, the ministry is intensifying training and competency development for fisheries extension workers, one of which is through the Marine and Fisheries Extension Worker Competency Development Week which takes place on July 2 to 10.
The event is attended by around 1,387 marine and fisheries extension workers from all over Indonesia.
"Marine and Fisheries extension workers serve as a bridge between policies and coastal communities. They are not complements, but frontline leaders in overseeing the blue economic transformation program," Head of the ministry's Marine and Fisheries Extension and Human Resource Development Agency I Nyoman Radiarta stated in his statement confirmed by Antara Journalist in Jakarta, on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Head of the Ministry's Marine and Fisheries Training Center Lilly Aprilya Pregiwati said that improving the competence of fisheries extension workers is key to supporting the ministry's major agendas and national programs to run smoothly.
"We present the best speakers from various sectors to ensure that the training materials are truly relevant and applicable," Pregiwati remarked.
She emphasized that the success of national strategic programs, is highly dependent on the proximity and capacity of marine and fisheries extension workers in fostering and motivating community business groups.
As previously reported, Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono stated that competent marine and fisheries extension workers are the main foundation towards Indonesia as the world's maritime axis through a fair and sustainable blue economy.
