Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is collaborating with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to bolster industrial research to create more jobs.

Deputy Head Coordinator for Human Development, Culture, and Sustainable Development of Kadin Shinta Kamdani stated here on Wednesday that research synergy is essential for supporting the transition to a sustainable green economy, particularly in the energy sector.

"This is one of the extraordinary efforts to ensure industries can utilize technology. We believe technology plays a crucial role," she remarked.

Kamdani stated that Kadin and BRIN will continue to broaden their collaboration across various other industrial sectors in the future.

"Beyond the technological aspect, financing and human resources are also key. With new technology, we can create more jobs," she remarked.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chair of Research and Technology at Kadin Ilham Habibie stated that strengthening research and development in the country is necessary for Indonesia to achieve a developed nation status.

"We cannot only depend on comparative advantages like natural resources. We also need to increase what we create by using them. To this end, downstreaming, increasing added value, and technology are needed," he remarked.

Furthermore, BRIN Head Laksana Tri Handoko underscored the importance of business players' involvement in the research ecosystem, which can directly boost the downstreaming potential.

"We are currently focusing on the food, energy, and health sectors," he affirmed.

Director General of Research and Development at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Mohammad Fauzan Adziman emphasized the importance of university research that addresses people's needs.

He stated that collaboration between universities and industry players will accelerate the application of research results.

"If universities can solve industry problems, their research results will be utilized by the community more quickly. Collaboration is one of the keys," he highlighted.
