"This FLPP mortgage should be utilized by low-income citizens seeking to own their first home. Rather than spending money elsewhere, it is better to invest in a house, as land and construction prices keep rising," Sirait noted in a statement on Monday.
The minister emphasized that now is an ideal time for Indonesians to own a home, as the program -- part of President Prabowo Subianto’s pro-people housing initiative -- offers highly favorable terms, including a 1 percent down payment, 5 percent fixed interest rate, affordable monthly installments, and life insurance for borrowers.
"President Prabowo’s 3 Million Homes Program is for the people. Let us provide decent subsidized housing for the public, with free land acquisition tax (BPHTB) and building approval (PBG). We will continue to support the FLPP mortgage scheme and pray for the continued success of BP Tapera, with Bank BJB achieving the highest absorption rate in Indonesia," Sirait remarked.
This year, the government has allocated 350 thousand subsidized homes nationwide.
BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho explained that the FLPP is a housing finance facility offered by the government for low-income families who do not yet own a home. It is also a key component of the current administration’s 3 Million Homes Program.
"To date, we have disbursed Rp15.73 trillion in FLPP funds, supporting 126,932 housing units," Heru remarked.
West Java remains the leading contributor in FLPP distribution, with 29,856 subsidized housing units worth Rp3.74 trillion this year -- highlighting the ongoing demand for affordable housing among low-income residents in the province.
