"The Phase 1B, which connects Rawamangun or Velodrome Station to Manggarai Station, is expected to be operational, God Willing, in the third quarter of 2026," LRT Jakarta Project Director Ramdani Akbar stated at a public discussion on public transport here, on Tue
He revealed that construction progress on Phase 1B, which complements the existing Velodrome–Pegangsaan Dua line, had reached 57.75 percent by July 2025.
Upon completion, the combined length of Phases 1 and 1B of Jakarta LRT will be 12.2 km and is expected to serve up to 80 thousand passengers gradually.
Akbar confirmed that his side has obtained the permit to develop Line 2 and Line 3 for Jakarta LRT, thereby expanding its network.
The construction will be divided into three phases: the 8.2-kilometre Phase 2A connecting Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) to Pegangsaan Dua, the 4.5-kilometre Phase 2B from Velodrome Station to Klender, and the 4.9-kilometre Phase 3B extending from Klender to Halim Airport.

Meanwhile, Akbar stated that safe and comfortable public transport is a solution to address Jakarta's traffic issues, making it urgently needed by its residents.
"We are now focusing on completing Phase 1B of Jakarta LRT. We hope that after this, we can obtain the permit to expand the network further," the railway company official said.
"We hope that by 2050, rail-based public transport development in Jakarta will be complete and it will facilitate the movement of residents from the suburbs to the city centre," he added.

He informed that the Phase 1B development cost is at Rp5.36 trillion and, similar to the Rp5.3-trillion Phase 1, will be disbursed directly from the Jakarta Provincial budget.
Meanwhile, the cost of Phase 2A development is estimated at Rp8.66 trillion, Phase 2B at Rp3.65 trillion, and Phase 3B at Rp4.6 trillion.
Recognising the huge budget needed to develop the light railway system, Jakarta LRT considered alternative financing to bear the cost, including through the green sukuk that adheres to Islamic investment principles, Akbar added.
