“My visit to North Maluku is also intended to help strengthen the capacity of transmigration zones, both in terms of economic growth and community empowerment,” he remarked during a coordination meeting with the provincial government in Ternate, North Maluku, on Tuesday.
He noted that the funds were sourced from the 2025 State Budget (APBN) and intended to develop transmigration areas in seven districts and cities across North Maluku: Morotai Islands, East Halmahera, Central Halmahera, South Halmahera, North Halmahera, Sula Islands, and Tidore Islands.
“The 2025 APBN allocated a total of Rp35 billion,” Mauladi stated.
The deputy minister highlighted that President Prabowo Subianto had established the Ministry of Transmigration as a standalone entity tasked with strengthening national unity and integrity, alleviating poverty, and boosting food security.
The ministry was earlier part of the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration.
On that note, he emphasized that the transmigration funds should be utilized to encourage the formation of new economic centers, empower communities, and help tap into the full potential of local products.
“These funds are expected to drive economic growth and raise the living standards of the people of North Maluku,” he stated.
Also present at the coordination meeting, North Maluku Deputy Governor Sarbin Sehe called on local leaders across the province to align efforts to develop transmigration zones in their respective regions.
Mauladi and Sehe also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on community empowerment between the Morotai Islands District and Lamongan District of East Java.
The meeting also drew participation from leaders of Morotai Islands, Central Halmahera, North Halmahera, and South Halmahera, as well as officials from the Ministry of Transmigration.
