Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and the Chief of Defense Force of the Singapore Armed Forces, Vice Admiral Aaron Beng, agreed to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation during a meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Frega Ferdinand Wenas Inkiriwang, head of the Defense Information Bureau at the Ministry of Defense, said the collaboration aims to enhance military capabilities and deepen defense relations between the two countries.

"The meeting discussed various forms of cooperation, including joint military exercises on land, at sea, and in the air," Inkiriwang said.

He added that Indonesia is also looking to explore cyber defense collaboration with Singapore.

"We also discussed opportunities for cooperation in cyber defense, particularly since Singapore recently established its Digital Intelligence Service, which focuses on cyberspace," he said.

While specific details of the proposed initiatives were not disclosed, Inkiriwang expressed hope that the partnership would help bolster the defense posture of both countries and contribute to regional stability.

"The cooperation is expected to not only strengthen military capabilities but also reinforce bilateral ties," he added.
