“I consider the issue of family planning resolved. What remains is prioritizing FP services -- who provides those services? It is the counselors across Indonesia, particularly here in Central Java,” he remarked at the opening of the Sports and Arts Week (Porseni) of the Indonesian Family Planning Counselors Association (IPeKB) Central Java chapter, held at the Samapta Sports Hall in Magelang City on Wednesday.
According to Wihaji, those serving as FP counselors are the very individuals present at the event in Central Java.
“Therefore, the future of demographics lies with FP counselors. Secondly, it lies in family development,” he stated.
He stressed that family development is a crucial foundation, as all development must be rooted in strong fundamentals.
“And who builds that foundation? It is the FP counselors who have long overseen, guided, and ensured its strength,” he remarked.
He affirmed that this effort starts upstream -- from prospective brides and grooms, who will become reproductive-age couples. They must be prepared to prevent stunting, care for toddlers, infants, and children, and continue nurturing strong families.
“I firmly believe that a nation's strength is rooted in its families. The family is the smallest and most fundamental unit of society. If our families are strong and well, then Indonesia will be strong and well,” he remarked.
Magelang Mayor Damar Prasetyono noted that the Porseni event is not merely a competition but a platform for self-actualization and a reminder of the vital role FP counselors have in building quality families -- something fundamental to the nation’s well-being.
“I extend my highest appreciation to the Central Java chapter of IPeKB, the BKKBN, and all partners who have worked tirelessly to organize this event with such a remarkable spirit of collaboration,” he remarked.
He also emphasized that the success of population and FP programs is inseparable from the solidarity and dedication of human resources behind them.
