Mataram (ANTARA) - The Mount Rinjani National Park Authority (BTNGR) will temporarily close all hiking trails on Mount Rinjani in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, from August 1 to August 10, 2025.

Head of BTNGR, Yarman, said the decision followed a recent coordination meeting in response to an accident on the Segara Anak Lake trail.

"The closure will be in effect for 10 days, from August 1 to August 10, 2025," Yarman stated in Mataram on Wednesday.

The closure of six official hiking routes is detailed in Announcement Letter No. PG.5/T.39/TU/KSA.04.01/B/07/2025.

Yarman noted that the decision was made during a safety and emergency preparedness coordination meeting led by the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs. It also follows a memorandum from the Director General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation at the Ministry of Forestry dated July 22.

Hikers who have already booked entrance tickets (e-tickets) for the closure period may reschedule their trip for another time during the 2025 hiking season.

"Those who choose to cancel may request a refund for entrance and insurance fees," Yarman added.

The six trails affected by the temporary closure are as follows:

  1. Senaru Trail in North Lombok District

  2. Torean Trail in North Lombok District

  3. Sembalun Trail in East Lombok District

  4. Timbanuh Trail in East Lombok District

  5. Tetebatu Trail in East Lombok District

  6. Aik Berik Trail in Central Lombok District
