“This theme was chosen because it aligns with the nation’s grand vision and represents the direction of our national struggle. We aim to remain a united country -- Bhinneka Tunggal Ika -- many, yet one,” he said at the launch of the logo and theme at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He emphasized that the spirit of unity in diversity is fundamental for safeguarding Indonesia’s sovereignty and prosperity.
He added that preserving sovereignty is not enough without ensuring the well-being of the people.
“We want to be a prosperous nation. We do not want to be a poor country, nor do we want any of our fellow citizens to go hungry. Therefore, it is not just about sovereignty; our people must also prosper,” he said.
“Only then can we truly believe and be confident that we will achieve an Advanced Indonesia -- ‘United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia,’” he added.
Prabowo expressed the hope that this year’s Independence Day theme would not remain a mere slogan, but serve as a guiding principle for action and achievement.
He also invited all citizens to embrace the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence with joy and a sense of togetherness.
“Fly the red and white flag at home, at schools, in offices, in public spaces -- wherever you are. Red stands for the blood spilled for our independence, white for the purity of our soul,” he said.
He also launched the 80th anniversary logo on Wednesday. Designed by young Indonesian talents chosen by Prabowo, the logo has a minimalist design that features two cylindrical shapes forming the numbers 8 and 0, with the outer outline representing “two strong cores” -- unity and sovereignty.
The numbers 8 and 0 are interconnected, with no visible end.
Philosophically, the design forms an infinity symbol, representing unity as the foundation of sovereignty. It reflects the people’s welfare and the ongoing efforts to achieve the nation’s aspirations toward becoming advanced.
The bold red outline symbolizes “the manifestation of a prosperous people.”
Together, the two numbers form a complete visual interpretation of “Advanced Indonesia.”
“Advanced Indonesia” is the national vision targeted for realization by 2045, when the nation celebrates its centennial.
