“The National Health Insurance Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) has worked hard in ensuring equitable access to healthcare for all Indonesians. We have to be proud because we have a social security agency that has served 98 percent of Indonesians,” the minister said here on Monday.
The minister, who is colloquially known as Cak Imin, noted that the JKN program is an integrated initiative to address poverty and improve welfare.
Every year, the central government covers Rp47 trillion (about US$3.03 billion) in treatment costs for people in need, who have registered as JKN aid recipients (PBI JKN), he informed.
“The regional government also supports the success of the JKN program in serving the people,” he added.
On the same occasion, the president director of BPJS Kesehatan, Ali Ghufron Mukti, stressed his administration’s commitment to ensuring fast, affordable, and equitable access to healthcare.
He said that the JKN program reflects Indonesians’ spirit of collaboration. Navigating a complex ecosystem and public expectation will always be a challenge for JKN, he added.
“Long ago, not everyone had the chance to access proper healthcare. Now, everyone who are active participants of JKN can seek treatment without being burdened by costly fees,” he pointed out.
He then lauded everyone who has supported the program, saying its benefits are now tangible for many Indonesians.
For its 57th anniversary, BPJS Kesehatan has unveiled six innovative measures, including the establishment of the Performance Management Center, which uses JKN participants’ Big Data to monitor and evaluate the program’s implementation.
The agency has also launched a Digital Human AI, a smart assistant that will be available on Mobile JKN. In addition, it has added another emergency contact feature, Emergency SOS, for people in need of urgent help.
Further, BPJS Kesehatan has rolled out Telemedicine Model 2 to bridge consultations between doctors posted at primary health facilities and their counterparts in hospitals. It has also opened the Counseling Room, a mental health service for company staffers.
