“Beloved children, apart from having fun, this activity can certainly reconnect social bonds that may have been eroded amid (society) that becomes more individualistic," she noted in a statement here on Wednesday.
According to Fauzi, playing traditional games that are rich in sportsmanship and cooperation will instill a sense of solidity from an early age, regardless of background, ethnicity, race, and religion.
The minister shared this during the HAN 2025 commemoration at the Kaulinan Barudak traditional game activity in Bandung City.
Fauzi noted that traditional games serve not only as a means of entertainment but also as a medium to strengthen social bonds, foster sportsmanship, and teach the values of togetherness.
Alongside traditional games, other activities for children during this year's HAN include healthy exercise, singing national and folk songs, traditional arts, and listening to stories of heroism from their respective regions.
The event succeeded in breaking an Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) record in the category of "Playing Traditional Games in Kebaya," with thousands of children and women wearing kebaya while playing traditional Sundanese games such as engklek, egrang, congklak, and ucing sumput.
“Kebaya is more than fashion; it is a symbol of history, identity, and the civilization of Nusantara women. Through this activity, our children are encouraged not only to love cultural heritage but also to integrate it into their daily lives,” Minister Fauzi stated.
