According to a written statement from the Foreign Affairs Ministry on Wednesday, this message was delivered by Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir at the International Summit on the Implementation of the Two-State Solution at the UN Headquarters in New York on July 29, 2025.
At the conference, Indonesia emphasized three main steps toward achieving the Two-State Solution, with the first being that recognition must be strategic, not merely symbolic.
“Recognizing Palestine is not a favor. It is a duty under international law. To recognize Palestine is to stand for justice. It is to believe in the UN Charter. It is to level the diplomatic playing field,” Nasir affirmed.
Indonesia emphasized that the two-state solution starts with political recognition, enabling peace negotiations, which can then lead to ending the illegal occupation, as confirmed by the International Court of Justice.
Second, Indonesia insists that violence against Palestinians must cease immediately.
Indonesia underlined that a ceasefire is a moral obligation, including providing humanitarian assistance and protecting civilians, both Palestinian and Israeli.
“President Prabowo has affirmed Indonesia’s readiness to contribute to peace, including through providing personnel to support stabilization efforts in Gaza, under a UN mandate,” Nasir remarked, adding that Indonesia not only advocates for peace but is also ready to help build it.
Third, Indonesia insists that Palestinians themselves must lead the future of their state.
Indonesia emphasizes that only the Palestinian people hold responsibility for rebuilding their state and shaping its political future.
“Any attempt to forcibly displace them or impose conditions on their sovereignty must be firmly rejected. A strong, unified State of Palestine, with full control over its territory and institutions, is the foundation of sustainable peace,” he stated.
Nasir stressed that only by realizing a strong and united Palestinian state with full control over its territory and institutions can Israel be truly accepted as a peaceful neighbor in a secure Middle East.
Indonesia will also continue to assist Palestinian youth, especially in education, because these young people will lead a free, democratic, and sovereign Palestine, the deputy minister stated.
