"The detailed spatial plan for Banjarbakula has just been discussed with the regional government," Nusron stated in Banjarbaru on Thursday.
Banjarbakula is a metropolitan area in South Kalimantan, formed from the acronym of five regions: Banjarmasin, Banjarbaru, Banjar District, Barito Kuala, and Tanah Laut.
Currently, the area is served by the Trans Banjarbakula Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system and benefits from coordinated waste management at the Banjarbakula Regional Final Waste Disposal Site (TPA) located in Cempaka Sub-district, Banjarbaru City.
Nusron emphasized that Banjarbakula's development must be seen as a unified ecosystem in terms of spatial planning and cannot be handled in isolation.
"For example, deforestation in Tanah Laut District could lead to flooding in Banjarmasin and surrounding areas within the Banjarbakula region," he explained.
He urged all stakeholders to maintain intensive communication to ensure the sustainable and integrated development of Banjarbakula.
"Development must be aligned with environmental carrying capacity while maintaining regional balance," Nusron affirmed.
According to Law No. 26 of 2007 on Spatial Planning, the spatial arrangement of a National Strategic Area refers to planning in regions that hold significant national influence in areas such as land affairs, the economy, socio-cultural development, and the environment.
