An official press release received by Antara in Jakarta on Saturday stated that the event was also held to commemorate the 67th anniversary of Bali Province.
Director General of Politics and General Government at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bahtiar, stated that the event was not merely a ceremony but had a deeper meaning, aiming to rekindle the spirit of independence.
"This independence was not freely given; it is rooted in history from significant historical places," he stated.
He explained that the Distribution Movement of 10 Million Red and White Flags began in 2022 and successfully set a record at the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) for the most flags distributed nationally.
Since then, he said, the National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol) has held the activity annually from Aceh to Papua.
He also noted that Bali was chosen as the location for the flag distribution as the city, with its diverse tourist destinations, is a region renowned for its strong fighting spirit in the struggle against colonialism.
To commemorate the distribution of 10 million flags, the Ministry of Home Affairs urged the public, government agencies, and the private sector to raise the Indonesian flag simultaneously from August 1 to 31, 2025.
He also expressed gratitude to the public and the Bali provincial government for their assistance in enlivening the distribution of 10 million Indonesian flags.
"I would like to thank the Bali provincial government, on behalf of the Minister of Home Affairs, Police General Tito Karnavian, and the Ministry of Home Affairs, for wishing Bali a happy 67th anniversary, which also coincides with the launch of the Distribution of 10 Million Indonesian Flags. I am grateful," he concluded.
