Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is currently gathering suggestions and feedback from the public regarding revisions to Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System (Sisdiknas).

"We are still in the process of listening to public aspirations and inputs for the National Education System Bill, which is an initiative from the House of Representatives," said Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti here, Sunday.

Mu'ti stated that his ministry will support the initiative to ensure the law's revision is finalized in 2025.

"This law is an initiative from the House of Representatives. We are more of a supporting unit to ensure that this law can be finalized this year, as it is a priority in the national legislation program (prolegnas)," he explained.

Separately, Head of Commission X at the House of Representatives, Hetifah Sjaifudian, expressed her commitment to establishing a flexible and adaptive learning curriculum.

This effort aims to create a competent generation with skills relevant to future challenges, an initiative she believes requires a revision of the National Education System Law.

Sjaifudian suggested that a flexible national curriculum is needed for primary and secondary education.

This would give schools the freedom to adjust their curriculum to local needs. "For example, in East Kalimantan, which combines local culture and industry potential in the learning process," she stated.

For tertiary education, she pointed out that universities need autonomy to design curricula based on research, competence, and culture.

"Higher education must be able to formulate a curriculum that is in accordance with industry and community needs, not just rigidly follow national standards," she commented.
